Tools That Can Be Coated
FAQ's

DiaTiger® Diamond Coating can be applied to solid carbide cutting tools such as
• Drills
• End mills
• Routers
• Inserts
• Blades
• Thread Mills & Taps

The size of tools that can be coated is limited to 1” diameter and 7-3/4” Overall Length for round tools and a 1-3/8" circle for inserts because the process for DiaTiger® Diamond takes place in a vacuum chamber with size and fixturing limitations.

It is not possible to coat brazed carbide tipped tools or HSS cutting tools because the temperature of the coating process (1,500° F / 815.5° C) would damage these materials. It is also not possible to coat solid carbide tools that have been previously coated nor is it possible to re-coat a diamond coated tool.

The selection of the carbide grade for manufacturing the tool is a most important consideration because it has a significant effect on the efficiency of the coating procedure and consistency of the coating adhesion. DTC has much experience with a number of carbide grades that are good choices for DiaTiger® Diamond Coating. [View Recommended Carbide Grades]
